If you're a mountain lover like me, and you're also learning a language. Then the films listed below will not disappoint you. The majestic beauty of the German Alps has long been a source of inspiration for filmmakers wanting to film daring adventures in vertical rocks or in the bounds of eternal snow and ice, man's courage, strength and resilience.


Before I start listing the movies, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that while watching, you should actively listen to the language in order to absorb new words, especially their correct pronunciation. Therefore, by passively listening, you will not see much progress, therefore, follow more carefully how and what the characters of these films say in the endless wilderness of the Alps and Himalayas.



Nordwand


Known as the "North Face" in English, it is exciting and captivating a mountaineering drama based on the true story of a daring ascent of the Eiger's notorious north face in 1936. The film beautifully captures the tension and danger faced by mountaineers Toni Kurtz and Andreas Hinterstoisser. With breathtaking landscapes and thrilling action sequences, "Nordwand" captures the essence of alpine adventure and human determination.


The film creates intense tension and suspense as the climbers navigate the North Face, encountering deadly obstacles and challenging decisions. The film explores the mental and physical toll of extreme mountaineering and the determination required to face such adversity. The expedition to the north face of the Eiger in 1936 is a significant event in the history of mountaineering, and the "Nordvand" pays tribute to this historic ascent. It sheds light on the courage and perseverance of the climbers who attempted this dangerous climb at a time when mountaineering technology was far less advanced than it is today.

White Hell Pic Palü



Considered a silent film classic, "Die Weise Hölle Piz Palü" is an early German mountain film that tells the story of a rescue mission in the Swiss Alps. Directed by: Arnold Fank and G.V. Pabst, this movie laid the groundwork for future mountain movies. It features stunning alpine vistas and was among the first to introduce mountain cinematography to the world. Nanga Parbat



is a German-Austrian historical drama film released in 2010. The film was directed by Josef Wilsmeier and is based on the real-life events surrounding the tragic Nanga Parbat expedition in 1934. The film provides a dramatic retelling of the ill-fated ascent of the ninth highest mountain in the world, Nanga Parbat, which located in the Himalayas in Pakistan. The film is inspired by the true story of the Messner brothers, who set out on their ambitious expedition in the 1970s. Reinhold Messner, one of the world's most famous climbers, co-wrote the screenplay and was closely involved in the production of the film. Real-life events served as the basis for the film's captivating narrative.
